AP Literature and Composition - World Literature (12th Grade)

The senior year World Literature focuses on tracing the development of ideas and artistic expression in Western Civilization starting with the classical world of Greece and Rome and progressing through Medieval and Renaissance Europe to contemporary times. This course introduces representative authors in various cultures and eras to help students think critically about literature. The analysis of world masterpieces is designed to enrich the student’s appreciation for the ideas that define us as humans and connect us worldwide to other cultures. Additionally, AP seniors work toward the mastery of formal literary criticism in preparation for the AP Literature and Composition exam.
